Teaching Assistants
Join us as a youth teaching assistant! This is a position for past Sculpture School students who are interested in sharing skills and helping the next generation learn how to work with power tools.
Eligibility
To be eligible you must meet the following requirements:
You must be between the ages of 13-18
Have participated in past Sculpture School programs
Have reliable transportation to our workspace at Knoll Farm, 700 Bragg Hill Rd, Waitsfield, VT
Responsibilities
Technical SUPPORT
Helping with tools and sharing safety tips are valuable ways that teaching assistants help create a safe environment for all. Below are a few examples of how teaching assistants provide technical support:
Modeling proper tool use
Reinforcing tool safety practices
Assisting with clamping and drilling
Supervising jigsaw cuts
Changing drill bits
Double-checking measurements
Organizing and cleaning the shop after class
SOCIAL SUPPORT
Emotional safety is a key ingredient in the success of our programs. Teaching assistants play a valuable role in helping insure that everyone feels welcome and included. Here are a few examples of how teaching assistants help create an inclusive environment:
Modeling kindness and collaboration
Checking-in with disengaged kids
Telling jokes
Reiterating instructions
Asking questions
Encouraging experimentation
